SPH PUSHES PAP PROPAGANDA WITH LONG ARTICLES ON 'DISUNITY' WITHIN THE WORKERS' PARTY

The mainstream media recently carried several long articles on the "disunity" within the Workers' Party following their Central Executive Council (CEC) elections on Sunday.
The New Paper had written that they had talked to an "inside source" from the workers' party who had told them that workers' party chairman Sylvia Lim had to specifically call for unity in their closed door meeting on Sunday.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to verify the truth behind this "source" as naturally it is kept secret who they spoke to.

The scathing article titled "Discontent among WP's old guard" which went into depth about all the small instances of unhappiness from various older party members was written by TNP and then republished across many other SPH controlled government propaganda media including Omy.sg and AsiaOne.

The article itself wrote about how some of the older members had felt a bit like they were sidelined by the party which was bringing in more younger graduates to hold top positions such as being an MPs and being in the CEC.

The CEC makes most of the important party decisions including drafting policies and making election plans.

Unsurprisingly, the article only focussed on the negatives and the slight feelings of disunity expressed.

The article ended without giving much mention to the fact that WP has heard and taken into consideration these concerns and is still functioning effectively as a party united in its goal.

As with any organisations with many members, there is bound to be some conflict and some unhappiness about how things are run. However, in the end, what matters most is whether these concerns are heard and whether the party is still able to continue moving forward together.

The mainstream media is quick to pick up on and emphasise these small disputes which are already being address by the party.

Would they ever write such scathing articles on the PAP who have also been throwing out their old members and parachuting in younger elites to stand in elections?

For example in the Punggol East by-elections, Dr Koh Poh Koon, a brand new face with little history in the party was parachuted in and promoted to run for MP above other long-serving PAP members already working the ground in the area. Surely there would have been some discontent but this was never mentioned at all by mainstream media.

Now, when a similar idle unhappiness is expressed by some WP members, the story gets a full page spread across all of SPH's media.
What do you think?
