Visiting hotel that require NRIC

Hi I recently visited a ML in a hotel and the staff requested for NRIC which I have no choice but to give, and they also asked the room number . I’m curious what will happen as this is my first time facing such situations

If you went to counter to register, then it is SOP. Anyway it is meant for contact tracing purposes. 99% of the time, nothing will happen.

There is a infamous hotel in gl i visited a few times b4, counter sees u, u tell him room number, counter will nood his head to signal u to proceed... that's the only hotel i been to so far for 'fun'...
