Thumbs up Govt should pay the cpf contributions of nsmen for the first few yrs of work

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

GOVT SHOULD PAY THE CPF CONTRIBUTIONS OF NSMEN FOR THE FIRST FEW YRS OF WORK

Post date:

My proposal was that the Government should pay for both the employer's and the employee's CPF for the first three years of his employment after his NS. This has the effect of making the cost of employing the NSMan cheaper than employing others like female workers and PR, giving them some priority in finding a job compared to his peers.
As he is already two years behind his peers who did not undergo NS in the job market, another two years of the same (i.e. govt paying for his CPF) should be extended to him, making a total of 5 years funded CPF contribution. Hopefully with this help, after 5 years he would have caught up with his peers who did not undergo NS (5 years' working experience vs 7 years' - this is possible).

I did not hear of someone else making such a proposal but it is definitely implementable once there is the political will to allocate the budget. We do not need to adjust the NS allowance based on some imagined earning of the NSMan. Here the compensation for him is tied to the actual income he would have earned if he is free to earn it on the civilian job market.
