Stranger gets three years for molesting two 7-year-old girls

A man has been sentenced to three years in prison for molesting two 7-year-old girls at a public square in Qingpu district, the local court said Thursday.

The defendant, surnamed Li, was charged with sexually harassing children after he touched two girls whom he had lured away from their parents on October 5, according to a press release from Qingpu District People's Court.

The girls had accompanied their father, surnamed Wang, around 7 pm to the square, where they met another girl with her father, the court said. The two men talked while the three girls played together.

Neither man noticed Li, who was a stranger, approach the girls. Telling the girls he would take them to look at flowers, Li lured them into a grove. Once they were in a secluded spot, Li touched the private parts of two of the girls, who started to cry.

Li tried to stop them from crying by offering them candy. The girls refused and ran back to their fathers. The two men found Li hanging around near the grove and called the police.
