Marrying a PRC

bros.. my friend had recently married a prc in china rashly and there seem to be some issues...firstly he actually rom the gal in china and he is now applying PR for this gal..

however i recently found out that the gal had a bf in s'pore and had once worked in 'tian an men'.... although she cliamed that she's no longer going to work there anymore but seriously who knows wat will happen in the future....

Thus i will really appreciate any wise bros out there to advise me on the following:

if the prc gets her PR and something happens to their marriage ie they filling a diavorce.. will the guy be required to pay alimony? if yes how much?

what are the other implications???

hmmm .. im not biased against prc but only hope u guys can give me some advise just in case the worst scenerio happens..... Tks alot bros

Re: Marrying a PRC

can expect more prob ahead
but d 'lucky thing' is he is not yet ROM in sg
so not consider as "married" in sg law
my personal consideration is, if a PRC can/have work in tien an men,
she must be very well/learnt a lot of d "dark side"
so if to avoid more problem in the future
withdraw her PR
i sense she's "making use" of your friend
so gd luck!!

Re: Marrying a PRC

not to pour cold water, all these 'dragon girl' once they tasted the easy money, you think they will stop??? unless they are old and nobody wants them anymore.

tell your friend make her a gf, once she gets PR, she'll walk out and look for richer men. your friend is just a stepping stone.

Re: Marrying a PRC

Sorry bro, wrong advise as :-

1) The law does not require couples who contracted marriages overseas to re-register (includes "converting" or "endorsing" a foreign marriage certificate) with the Singapore ROM. The marriage certificate issued by the competent authority of the foreign country may be accepted as prima facie evidence of a marriage between the parties named in the certificate.
2) You may update agencies which you have dealings with, about your new marital status. For example, you may wish to update your marital status with CPF Board (Central Provident Fund) to change nomination of CPF beneficiary.
3) If you wish to insert your husband's name into your identification documents, you may contact the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority.
4) If your spouse is a foreigner and you like to obtain permanent residence or citizenship for him/her, you may seek the advice of the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority.

Bro Draken,
As far s your pla is concern, should he file for divorce with his PRC wife in future, with her already obtained her PR status by then, your pal will & shall pay her alimony as stipulated in the Singapore Women Chartered Acts. Check with a lawyer frien for more info.

With regards to how much she's entitled for alimony is mainly depending on her financial status then, whether is she at that moment working & with sufficient financial support or not.

Bear one thing in mind bro, the Singapore Women Chartered Acts is all out to protect all women, be it or not she's PRC or SGP, as long as she's a PR or citizen of SGP status, she gets all the protections & rights to demand for almost anything under the sky from the man.

Hope the above lit' bitsy info helps bro.
Cheers.

AND BEAR IN MIND, PAYING ALIMONY IS TILL SHE PASS AWAY OR REMARRY OR YOU YOURSELF DIED, NOT WHEN YOU REMARRY, HAVE NINE KIDS ETC.

Re: Marrying a PRC

well...... AGAINST my better judgement and despite the lousy odds........ give the girl a chance....... Whats the details of the situation with their relationship?......what you've stated is quite general....... has there been signs that she'll fly areoplane once she moves here ?

If your friend suspect too much, he's also not giving the girl a fair chance to prove herself ...... I know i know.... many including me are skeptical

I think/hope that your friend has already thought about this and strategized beforehand and prepare for worst.

A friend of mine too married a foreigner (from Philippines) and when it came to divorce, he immediately quit his job, declared bankruptcy, freeing him from alimony. But of course he moved all his money to his friends' and relatives accounts and his property was a rented apartment.... he lives at his parents' house and took up little cash jobs for pocket money ....... I understand he will be setting up his own trading company in Hong Kong under a relative's name and do business from the HK registered company his major income.

Good luck
