Any good hotels at Batam to recommend?

Hi guys,

My f-buddy and I have decided to take a weekend trip to Batam. Any good hotels to recommend? Preferably 4 star rating with a shopping mall within walking distance. Or is it alright to book the hotel near the Batam ferry terminal?

Would it be cheaper to book at the tourist arrival counter rather than as a walk-in customer? And what is the standard trip in rupiah for a 1 way to the hotel by cab?

Sorry for asking so many questions as we have not been to Batam before.

Hi,

Read a few postings but I think most of the info outdated..I dont have the luxury surfing the Batam thread for too long coz my OC might suspect n also cant access this website from company. Hope you dont get the wrong idea I'm taking the short-cut to fish for information.

Initially want to go JB instead but afraid running into friends or relatives.so Batam would be a better choice. Thanks for your understanding

Nice simple hotel with in room safe. Breakfast provided, got massage and KTV all under 1 roof. Flanked by 2 shopping centres and a few joints within stones throw away.

From Batam Center Ferry Terminal, can catch a free shuttle bus to this hotel. For rates pls call and check directly with the hotel and also timing and location of the shuttle bus.

Booking from travel counter at the terminal will be cheaper S$5-$10 depending on the hotel u choose. But since u are going weekend, it might be fully booked by the time u reach there. Room rates should be about S$50 thereabouts. More like 3 star ratings.

U can even tune in to the local channels after midnight, they broadcast locally made porn. Too bad the signals are blocked in Singapore.

Will be heading to batam somewhere in October for shopping. Probably going to stay at Novotel. 4* and it's within Nagoya. Quite accessible IMO
