I don't think this is true. I've never seen a girl--whether a WL or not--who does not want anything but her boyfriend's affection. Heck, I don't think my wife wants nothing but my affection
She is not a material girl or anything, but she certainly loves the purses and jewelry I pick up at the duty free shops on my business trips.
Of course, if a girl loves a guy, she does NOT go out with him BECAUSE of expensive gifts. But she will certainly want more than his affection, especially as the relationship progresses.

Guys, don't trust women. I have a girlfriend who is married. She gets super-excited when her husband calls on her mobile when we are doing it. Whenever it happens, it gets me really excited too. But it made me lose all my trust in women....
