Since a huge portion of the population has this, you might tell her that you think you have always had it and maybe because your health is down a little bit, it is just now showing up. You could have gotten this when you were a child and it just now is making itself known. When you can prove to her that >70% of the world's population has Herpes (ie: cold sores and other ways it can show up), I don't think she will be too concerned except want you go to the doctor and get treated as much as possible.
